Northern Cape’s informal settlements get support
The HDA was invited by the Northern Cape Province to attend a Human Settlements Planning and Alignment meeting on 21 September 2011.
The purpose of the meeting was to align services and infrastructure so that the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs can better plan where the province’s human settlements developments should be located.
The HDA’s geospatial unit presented a profile of the province’s informal settlements, demographics and socio-economic trends. The presentation zoomed into the Sol Plaatjies municipality and showed the relationship between existing housing projects and informal settlements.
