The Sheffield Road Development is a collaborative human settlements project delivering fully subsidised housing in Philippi, Cape Town, as part of the broader N2 Gateway National Priority Project.
Led by the Western Cape Provincial Department of Human Settlements and supported by the HDA, the project brings together national, provincial and municipal partners to unlock well-located land and deliver sustainable, high-density housing close to economic opportunities and social amenities.
The development spans 4.49 hectares of land jointly owned by the HDA and the City of Cape Town and will deliver 384 housing opportunities, comprising predominantly double-storey semi-detached units and a limited number of single-storey houses. All units meet national housing standards and are fully serviced with water, sanitation, roads and public lighting.
Bulk and internal services have been completed, beneficiary administration is underway, and the project is progressing towards the construction of top structures.
Sheffield Road reflects the HDA’s role in enabling integrated, well-located human settlements through land assembly, intergovernmental coordination and delivery support.
